Cleaning and Sanitization Protocol in Adherence to CDC Guidelines
In addition to following state and local child care licensing policies, the following guidelines and protocols will be implemented and maintained in anticipation of Child’s Play Cooperative Preschool opening in September of 2020.
Cleaning and Sanitizing (CDC guidelines)
Cleaning and disinfection efforts will be intensified. Child’s Play staff will continue to adhere to everyday preventive actions to prevent the spread of illness. Child’s Play has a posted, regular cleaning and sanitation schedule, including provisions for deep cleaning outside of each bathroom area for all clearing protocols within the school.
This includes:
Washing hands often for at least 20 seconds with soap and water and using hand sanitizer with at least 60 % alcohol.
Cleaning and disinfecting all frequently touched surfaces and materials in the classroom. All porous and non-porous surfaces will be cleaned and disinfected. High-touch surfaces will require a regular and intensified approach, including a midday thorough cleaning. (doorknobs, light switches, classroom sink handles, countertops, cots, chairs, cubbies, and climbing structures).
Any materials and toys that cannot be cleaned and sanitized will be removed. There will be enough toys available to rotate and allow for adequate time and effort for sanitizing in between usage.
Precautions will be maintained for mouthing toys and items that have been contaminated will be separated into a “to be washed and sanitized” bin and cleaned with gloves on.
All areas in the classroom, including furniture will be disinfected daily.
There will be no sharing of materials between classrooms to reduce the chances of cross contamination.
Covering mouth and nose with a mask for staff at all times while inside Child’s Play.
In the absence of hand washing and as a last resort, sanitizer for children will be used and monitored for safety to prevent children from swallowing alcohol.
The routine Cleaning Schedule will be posted and include specifics about what and where is cleaned as needed, daily and/or weekly. Teachers will check, log, comment and sign off on the checklist and plan.
As much as possible, children will be seated for meals with distance in mind.
Teachers will be informed of all necessary changes, supports available and the importance of any changes (such as the need for a separate isolation area) so they understand the importance of their roles in keeping themselves healthy.
Staff will follow CDC guidance on how to disinfect our center if someone is sick.
All staff members will watch the webinar on the CELP website pertaining to Health and Safety modules.
All cleaning materials will be kept secure and out of reach of children, as always.
